Camping sounds fun! There is a good campground down in San Juan Capistrano that is about 1 mile off of the shore. I also know of a campground 30 minutes north of UCLA. We would have to hike a few miles to reach it but the hike is not strenuous. Definitely no more than one hour. This one is nice because it is pitch black and the sky is illuminated by stars.
Retreat at my house may be possible, but there will be no alcohol allowed. It doesn't matter to me either way.
